The History of Zed & Ess
Zed & Ess began as Z&S Fashion Tailors in 1982, when Zoe and Stella combined their skills and passion to create a trusted local tailoring shop. A few years later, Gill joined the team as a seamstress, eventually purchasing the business in 2005. She continued to grow Z&S, guiding it through several locations around Sarnia.
Holly joined as a seamstress in 2011. In 2017, when Gill was diagnosed with cancer and needed to step back during treatment, Holly took on a larger role. To help manage the workload, Holly’s sister-in-law, Meaghan, joined the team.
In 2021, as Gill entered retirement, Holly and Meaghan purchased the business together. They rebranded Z&S to Zed & Ess, choosing a name that stayed close to the original while giving it a fresh identity of their own.
After much consideration, in October 2024, Holly purchased Meaghan’s half of the business and became the sole owner of Zed & Ess. The decision was made mutually and kindly, with both agreeing it was the best choice for their work–life balance.
Today, Holly carries forward the legacy of Zed & Ess with care, craftsmanship, and deep roots in the community — honouring the past while shaping the future of a beloved local business.
